# Piero Conca

## Post Doctoral Researcher

Long hair, blue eyes, Piero is a new entry in STLab team and with his expertise on machine learning has enriched the group. He is a motivated person, available, with a subtle irony that amuses all the people around him. He works hard and he is willing to acquire new skills.

Piero Conca is a Post-doc researcher at the Semantic Technology Laboratory (STLab) of the National Research Council (CNR), in Catania, where he participates in the MARIO project. He received a Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of York (UK) in 2014 with a research project on unsupervised model updating of classification models. He worked as a research assistant at the University of Catania in the areas of prediction and estimation for the hospitality sector and robust classification. He holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Catania with a focus on evolutionary algorithms and, in particular, immune-inspired algorithms for the synthesis of circuits. His research interests comprise the fields of machine learning (unsupervised model updating and classification of webpages), optimisation (biological networks and circuits) and semantic technologies.
